Italy’s second oldest university – Galileo held a chair of mathematics here - the University of Padova (Padua) ranks among Bologna, Paris, Oxford and Cambridge as one of the world’s great universities. Today’s it’s a high ranking, large, comprehensive research intensive university and it continues to welcome students from all over the world.

Highlights
The University’s tradition of freedom of scientific experimentation has led to some of the world’s most important discoveries in medicine and astronomy. Today, research and teaching are closely linked. You can experience the rich history of the University through its art, palaces, monuments and works, which form an important part of Padua’s cultural heritage. With 32 Departments and a multitude of courses, the University of Padova offers a broad choice. The Department of Land, Environment, Agriculture and Forestry offers a diversity of disciplines including ecology and silviculture; land, agriculture, food and forestry economics and policy; hydrology; soil conservation and water resources management, and agricultural and forest engineering.

Location
A medieval city state, Padua’s streets are steeped with history, with fresco, famous churches, stunning architecture, squares, porticos and cobbled streets. The city has long been renowned for art and culture and attracts almost 500,000 tourists every year. Its economy is growing and it’s the powerhouse behind one of Italy’s most important industrial regions. Venice is just an hour away and you can visit the delightful Euganean Hills to the south.
