Originally founded by the royal family to ‘save the nation through women’s education’, Sookmyung Women's University is Korea’s leading women’s university.
Sookmyung’s innovative educational approaches include PBL, problem based learning that helps students learn through problem solving and cooperation, UBL, a new learning method that enables students to actively use global resources and material without having to study abroad, and various reading programs to improve communication skills and knowledge. Foreign students are provided a buddy program, internship opportunities and a range of cultural experiences including the Sookmyung Gayageum Orchestra, Korean Food Institute, and a number of museums.

Unique characteristics
The College of Music aims to produce creative musicians and specialises in piano, orchestral instruments, vocal music and composition. The College of Fine Arts has departments in Visual and Multimedia Design, Industrial Design, Environmental Design, Arts and Crafts, and Painting.

A huge city of more than 10.5 million people, Seoul is an economic and business powerhouse that also boasts a unique history and numerous pleasant pastimes. You can hike on Namsan, see architectural innovation at the UNESCO City of Design, visit the Demilitarized Zone and sample the city’s history with numerous temples, palaces, tea houses and galleries. The food is wonderful, as is the nightlife, the saunas and the art and culture.
