Universität der Künste Berlin, or Berlin University of the Arts, is one of the world‘s largest, most diverse arts universities. It is very traditional and it’s famous for delivering high quality arts education. It is one of the few art colleges in Germany to have full university status.

The University is one of Berlin’s key cultural venues, with students presenting their work to the public almost every day in the theatre or two big concert halls. High calibre students receive traditional theoretical education as well as individual tuition aimed at developing their skills as an artist. The University is a network of colleges which enable an interdisciplinary approach and encourage students to experiment with other art forms. It is the only University that trains art and music teachers and there is a wide range of research activity.
Unique characteristics
The University is organised into four faculties, Fine Art, Architecture, Media and Design, Music and Performing Arts. With a history of more than 300 years, The College of Fine Arts trains artists and art teachers across four Institutes - Art, Aesthetic Education and Civilisation Studies, Arts Studies and Aesthetics, and –for postgraduate and complementary studies – the Institute of Art in Context. Students work in classrooms, workshops and studios for specialist classes including painting techniques, printmaking, textiles, photography and computing.

Berlin offers a rich cultural life and attracts artists and musicians from all over the world. It’s the party city that never seems to sleep. Here you can enjoy entertainment in small basement venues to huge dance clubs, sample German food and beer, go to the symphony or theatre, and learn about the city’s rich history.
