About

Location: Bremen
Year Established: 1873
Student population: 900

About
One of Germany’s major arts institutions, the Hochschule für Künste Bremen offers an excellent environment for creative young people to cultivate their talents and prepare for a career. It is unique in that both art and music are housed under one roof, meaning there are plenty of interdisciplinary programs, inter-faculty seminars and collaboration on large-scale artistic productions.

Highlights
The Hochschule für Künste Bremen combines practice with in-depth historical and theoretical analysis, offering students a world-class education. The Faculty of Music is close to Bremen’s historical city centre, which has UNESCO World Heritage listing. The University is one of Bremen’s major cultural institutions, and stages a range of concerts and exhibitions every year. It prides itself on being green and family friendly.

Unique characteristics
There are four areas of focus in music: performance, music education, church music and orchestral academy. About one third of the students are international, bringing a unique vibrancy to the campus, plus there’s plenty of hands-on experience to develop students’ professional skills.

Location
Bremen is a friendly city in the northwest of Germany, with plenty of history and culture to be explored. It’s close to the North Sea and surrounded by flat countryside. Most famous for the Bremen Town Musicians, today it offers museums, restaurants, theatres and plenty of entertainment.
