About
Javeriana University is one of the 114 universities of the Society of Jesus and is one of the oldest and most traditional Colombian universities. It is a highly regarded, research-based university that has produced many of Colombia’s most prominent citizens, including past national presidents, artists, journalists and entrepreneurs.

Highlights
The University is known for the quality of its research and it academics are among the most cited in the country. It has 14 research institutes. The campus is near downtown Bogotá and offers a number of student services, first rate facilities and a friendly atmosphere. It has one of the oldest and best libraries in the country.

Unique characteristics
There are 18 Schools and some 193 academic programs. The University offers a broad range of programs and its s main research areas are the natural sciences, social and human sciences, health sciences and engineering.
 
Location
Bogotá is the capital of Colombia, surrounded by the peaks of the Andes. It offers a historic downtown area with colonial buildings, museums, churches and vast plazas. There are still working class areas where the crime rate is high. From Colombia you can visit the coast, the Andes, the Amazon, the coffee growing region and other cities such as Medellin and Cali.

The Javeriana grading scale is from 0 to 5, 5 being the highest score and 3 the passing grade.

Accommodation 
The Pontificia Universidad Javeriana has no dormitories or housing facilities for visiting students. However, the "Punto de apoyo a Estudiantes Fuera de Bogotá" assists students in finding lodging at private homes and student residences. For more information, students should contact apoyoaestudiantes@javeriana.edu.co. The average monthly cost for lodging and meals is between USD$320 and USD$600 per month.

Orientation
Students should plan to arrive one week before the start of classes and report to the International Relations Office, located on the 7th floor of the Central Building of the University. A mandatory orientation will be held prior to the start of semester.
