About
Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt) is the first independent public college of art and design in the United States. It aims to develop fearless artists by supporting and inspiring creativity in a community of outstanding artists, designers and educators.
Highlights
MassArt is about to open the MassArt Design and Media Center, a state of the art facility which will enhance collaboration and creativity with new studio and classroom spaces. MassArt has seven gallery spaces on campus as well as classroom, studio and living spaces.
Unique characteristics
MassArt offers 22 disciplines spanning the fine arts, design, art education, and art history. Its wide range of undergraduate programs includes animation, ceramics, fashion design, film/video, history of art, jewellery and metalsmithing, photography and sculpture.
Location
Boston is one of America’s most forward thinking cities, boasting universities, libraries, technology centres and financial institutions – it has possibly more researchers and PhDs per capita than anywhere else in the world. You can easily walk around this fascinating city and the public transport system is excellent. There is the ocean, lakes, mountains and wilderness nearby.
