The Royal Danish Academy of Music is a power centre in the classical music world, representing the highest international level and compares to and cooperates with a number of the foremost music academies in the world. The academy offers study programmes within music and music pedagogy at the highest level, taught by a corps of teachers, numbering several of the greatest names in music, including many international capacities affiliated as guest professors. The study environment is very international and is characterized by a healthy competition accentuated interaction between the students, Danish as well as international.

Classical music is a central part of RDAM’s culture and cultural heritage and this means that the study programmes and the wide range of public concerts spring from more than five hundred years of music - all the way to the latest trends.  It is a gigantic music treasure, characterized by a great diversity with regard to styles, genres and idioms, which it is both committing and inspiring to develop further and to actualize continually, so that it will continue to be important to modern people and thus RDAM’s community.
Unique Characteristics
The academy is housed in iconic buildings drawn by the Danish architect Vilhelm Lauritzen (the former National Radio House), containing fully modern teaching and practicing rooms as well as superb concert halls and recording studios in international top class.
Frederiksberg is a fashionable part of Copenhagen, where you’ll find great shopping, green spaces, and delicious food. Considered to be one of Europe’s best student cities, Copenhagen offers a wonderful quality of life. There is a wide range of museums, arts festivals and concerts, as well as numerous bars, cafes and restaurants, including the best restaurant in the world, Noma. The city is relatively small and you can easily get around its parks, waterways and charming cobbled streets by foot or bicycle.
