NTU Plus Academy Summer Programs

Program Description
University of Sydney students have the opportunity to study for three weeks at Taiwan’s top university, NTU, in their Plus Academy Summer Programs (July). A range of courses are on offer throughout various subjects, all exploring their subject matter through the lens of Taiwanese culture and region-specific perspectives. A social programme is also on offer through which students can experience the local culture and everything Taipei has to offer.

Applying for academic credit
This program is available on a non-exchange basis only. If you wish to receive academic credit towards your University of Sydney course you must have approval from your faculty prior to departure.

Local Overview
Taipei is the political, economic, educational, and cultural center of Taiwan, and one of the major hubs of the Chinese-speaking world. A global city, Taipei is part of a major high-tech industrial area. Railways, high-speed rail, highways, airports, and bus lines connect Taipei with all parts of the island. Taipei is home to various world-famous architectural or cultural landmarks such as Taipei 101, Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, and several night markets across the city. Its natural features such as Maokong, Yangmingshan and hot springs are also well known to international visitors.
Host institution
National Taiwan University NTU is a national co-educational research university located in Taipei's Da'an District. Founded as the Taihoku (Taipei) Imperial University during the Japanese colonial era, the government of the Republic of China resumed the administration of Taihoku University following the war in 1945, reorganizing and renaming it National Taiwan University. NTU is considered one of the most prestigious universities in Taiwan. Its vision embraces strong knowledge, strong techniques and strong elites, guided by independent thought and a pioneering spirit of enterprise. 
Housing is provided for students on campus in NTU’s Shui-Yuan Dormitory which offers single rooms in a residential complex equipped with sports facilities and spacious common areas.

Program fee: Varies by course

Program fee includes: Tuition, application fee, accommodation, reading materials, orientation, insurance, airport shuttle, and field trips

Scholarships: 2 x $1,500 Sydney Abroad scholarships are available. Once you have completed the Sydney Abroad application and been accepted by TU Berlin you will automatically be assessed for these scholarships.

Travel insurance: If you are approved by the University of Sydney to participate in this program you will be covered by the University's Student Travel Insurance Policy. This is a complementary policy to cover you for the duration of your University of Sydney mobility experience. Please refer to the Audit and Risk Management website for all travel insurance queries.
Other costs: Meals, flights, visa, personal expenses

OS-HELP loans may be available to eligible students enrolled in a Commonwealth supported place, where the program is approved for credit prior to departure. Application required. 

How to Apply

Each academic stream of the NTU Plus Academy has an individual application online. Some applications have been extended to 18 May 2018! 

If you have applied and been accepted onto the NTU Plus Academy you can lodge your application with Sydney Abroad to be considered for a a Vice Chancellor Global Mobility Scholarship, receive travel insurance and pre-departure support.
