About
The University of Miami is a private research university which has progressed rapidly in recent years to become one of the country’s top tier research universities. It’s best known for its research into medicine, science, engineering, education, and psychology.
 
Highlights
The University of Miami has three campuses in Miami-Dade County, including Coral Gables, the city of Miami and South Dade. The main campus at Coral Gables has two colleges and seven schools, and is about 10 km from downtown Miami. There’s a famous intercollegiate athletics program. Its sporting teams, the Miami Hurricanes, offer 17 varsity sports and support more than 400 student-athletes.
 
Unique characteristics
With more than 180 majors and programs, the University is known for the high quality of its students and its distinguished faculty, who comprise some of the leading researchers in the country.

Location
Miami, the ‘Magic City’, is a glamorous location in South Florida full of Cuban influences, Hispanic food and a vibrant sub culture. Watch the sunset over Biscayne Bay, take a cruise in the Everglades National Park, go to a poetry recital or music performance, or visit one of the many museums. Coral Gables itself offers a variety of arts and culture including the Lowe Art Museum, the Jerry Herman Ring Theatre and the Gusman Concert Hall and Clarke Recital Hall, which stage numerous concerts including Festival Miami.

Uni Life
Greek Life is big, and deciding to join a fraternity is a great way of building relationships. However if Greek life is not for you, there are a ton of different clubs and societies for everyone.
 
Study
About 4 hours a week, 30 students in a class, weekly assignments, class format was a tutorial setting.
 
Cuisine
Lots of Mexican food, must try Cuban coffee and food, SHAKE SHACK, FIVE GUYS.
 
Housing
Lived on campus and is highly recommended. Even though it is not the nicest it is very convenient and a great way of meeting people.
 
Money Matters
$25000, managing funds was quite difficult because Miami is a very expensive city. Did not work whilst studying and you definitely shouldn't.
 
Getting Around
Public transport is not good however there is a train station right across campus. Uber is the way to go.
 
Travels
Go during the fall if you want the college football/tailgate experience. However if you go during summer, there is the must attend event of ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL.
 
Top Tips
Miami gives you both the community college experience and the city life. There is always something to do.
