Program Description
New York is widely known as the city that never sleeps. The city boasts incredible art galleries, museums, Times Square, Broadway, incredible architecture, hole in the wall clubs and a thriving music and arts scene. Students will experience modern styles mixed with historical beauty, delicious food and be immersed in life in one of the most exciting cities in the world. Life in the Big Apple is fast-paced, delightful and steeped in culture. Students will find infinite activities to partake in and places to explore whilst studying in the largest metropolitan centre of the US.

Local Overview
Besides the architectural delights, New York is an urban jungle that has everything to offer to visitors. The city is home to numerous museums, parks, trendy neighbourhoods and shopping streets. From Broadway to the scene of Seinfeld, the city that never sleeps has something to offer everyone!
 
Accommodation 
Accommodation is provided in the YMCA on Manhattan Island in the heart of New York. The west side ‘Y’ is situated in close proximity to Central Park, Columbus Circle and the Lincoln Centre. This vibrant and welcoming neighbourhood is filled with boutiques, bars, live music venues and high-end retail stores. The Y is the ideal location to experience and explore NYC.
 
Rooms are clean and air-conditioned. 24-hour security, housekeeping service, WiFi, two swimming pools, a fitness centre, snack café and lounge are all included.
 
There are no cooking or laundry facilities. However, there are thousands of restaurants in the Manhattan and the nearest laundry mat is a mere three blocks away.
 

Host institution
This programme is hosted by the New York Institute of Technlogy (NYIT), a private, independent, non-profit, non-sectarian research university founded in 1910 and boasts over 100,000 alumni worldwide. The current student body of 10,000 represent 50 US states and 100 countries.
 
The university campus is located on Manhattan Island, at the intersections of 61st and Broadway – near the Columbus Circle and on the corner of Central Park. The university has a cybersecurity research centre in Port Washington, New York and campuses around the world in the United Arab Emirates, China and Canada.
 
The university has five schools and two colleges, all with an emphasis on technology and applied scientific research. The university offer 100 degree programmes in 50 fields of study. NYIT is the birthplace of 3D CGI movies.
 
NYIT is listed as a ‘selective’ university and consistently ranks in the top 50 among the US universities in the North.
