CIS Australia– Short Term Study Abroad

Program description Spend a month of the winter in beautiful and historic Chiang Mai, Thailand. Experience traditional Thai culture while studying Thai language and electives including Buddhism, international finance and gender studies.

Eligibility criteria When researching the CISaustralia programs, be sure to consider whether you meet the published pre-requisites. You should contact CISaustralia for course syllabi and discuss whether the program meets your academic requirements by discussing it with your course coordinator at the University of Sydney.
Credit / Not-for-credit Please contact your faculty office with the below form to submit an application for credit. Participation in any study abroad program does not guarantee credit and will require faculty assessment of individual applications-for-credit. Please contact for further information on credit transfers for CIS programs.

*If available, participants can request a single room at an additional fee. Note: Single rooms are only available for the Chiang Mai portion of the program. Rooms in Bangkok are all shared doubles.

Please note that students need to budget for flights, visa, meals and personal travel expenses. CIS can provide a realistic sample of expected additional expenses so you can be fully prepared for all expected costs and budget accordingly.

OS-HELP loans may be available to eligible students enrolled in a Commonwealth supported place where the program is approved for credit prior to departure. Application required.
