Program Description
Spending a few weeks of your summer holidays in Barcelona can be your reality. Breathe in the fresh Mediterranean air while you soak up the Spanish language and the distinctive Barcelona culture. Students also have the opportunity to study a unique international business course, Management Across Borders, or Contemporary Spanish Society.

In a short time you can expect to gain or improve your Spanish language skills – there is nothing like hearing, reading and speaking a new language every day. You can potentially earn the equivalent of 6 credit points towards your degree in Contemporary Spanish Society, taught in English by Barcelona School for International Studies (SIS). The Management Across Borders course also allows students the opportunity to gain academic credit for one business/management/HR related course, taught in English.

Local Overview
Barcelona is seaside city that is famous for its art and architecture, world-class dining – it’s here that molecular gastronomy took off – and its’ all night, seaside party scene. You can stroll the historic streets and botanic gardens, eat amazing tapas, enjoy a variety of sports on the Mediterranean and visit the numerous museums and galleries showcasing local masters such as Picasso, Miró and Dalí. 
CIS Australia organise accommodation is fully furnished shared apartments in central Barcelona. Accommodation is close to public transport links, cafes, restaurants and bars and just a 25 minute commute to campus. You'll have a bedroom shared with one other student, and the apartments will have 3-6 students in total wwith communal living room bathroom and well-equipped kitchen. Bed linens and towels are provided.

Host institution
SIS is in the L'Eixample district of Barcelona between the old city (Ciutat Vella) and what were once surrounding small towns, constructed in the 19th and early 20th centuries. It is an ideal location – just a short walk to Plaza Cataluña, one of the city's main plazas, and about a 5-10 minute metro ride to Plaza España.

OS-HELP loans may be available to eligible students enrolled in a Commonwealth supported place, where the program is approved for credit prior to departure. Application required. 

How to Apply

Applications for January 2018 are now open!
To apply to this program you need to submit an application to Sydney Abroad and CIS Australia. The Sydney Abroad application will provide you with the ability to apply for academic credit towards your University of Sydney course. The CIS Australia website provide the course syllabus, which you will need to request approval from your faculty to receive academic credit towards your University course. When you click on the link to apply to CIS Australia, read through the instructions and submit a 'Study Abroad Application'. 

CIS Australia have the final decision on whether you are accepted to participate in this program, however your faculty have the final decision on whether you are able to receive academic credit for this program. It is not a requirement of CIS Australia programs that you are approved to receive academic credit.
