About
The University of Virginia (UVA) was founded by Thomas Jefferson to develop leaders who could shape the future of the nation. Today it’s a public, selective university that is considered one of the best in the United States. It has consistently ranked first or second among the US public universities for the last 30 years.

Highlights
On campus is the Jefferson-designed Rotunda, a scale replica of Rome's Pantheon, as well as the Fralin Art Museum.

Unique characteristics
UVA’s School of Law offers an intellectual community in a pleasant environment, and is surrounded by beautiful gardens. It’s the second-oldest continuously operating law school in the US and consistently ranks among the top in the country. Students are encouraged to develop a diverse intellectual life by studying courses from other departments.

Location
In a beautiful natural setting in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Charlottesville has long attracted Southern aristocracy as well as students and the arts community. Among the 45,000 residents are numerous students, there are great restaurants and a thriving arts, culture and music scene. Outside the city you’ll find rolling hills and farms, the Shenandoah National Park, and Washington DC is two hours away.
