East China University of Politics and Law (ECUPL)
Location: Shanghai

Student Population: 22,300
East China University of Political Science and Law is a public university in Shanghai. It is one of the few higher education institutions in China specialising in legal education.
ECUPL has campuses in two districts: Changing and Songjian. It has four major LLD programs:  legal historiography, criminal jurisprudence, economic jurisprudence, and international law, and nine LLM programs of law: theories of law, legal historiography, constitutional jurisprudence and administrative jurisprudence, criminal jurisprudence, civil and commercial jurisprudence, procedural law, economic jurisprudence, international jurisprudence, environment and resources protection jurisprudence and one program of professional law. On-the-job students are accepted to pursue doctoral and master degrees.
Unique Characteristics
ECUPL has recently instigated a major international exchange program, including introducing some courses in English, or via translator. It has set up a joint program with the National University of Singapore and the City University of Hong Kong. It also receives student groups each year from the United States and Australia.
Shanghai is a huge city evoking history, glamour and mystique. It is famous for its architecture, food, shopping and commerce. On first glance it looks like a modern metropolis of skyscrapers and megamalls. But there are hundreds of bustling markets, funky shops and possibly the best nightlife scene in China.
