The historic Technische Universität Berlin (TU Berlin) is one of Germany’s largest and most internationally renowned technical universities, located in the heart of Berlin. Student Experiences

Samuel Gleeson
Bachelor of Engineering, Semester 1, 2016

Host City Highlights
The things I enjoyed most were hanging out at Siegmunds Hof, going to Tiergarten, the lake at Wansee and going to bars and clubs in Berlin.

Uni Life
Excellent, there was a very strong exchange student presence.

Study
There was a similar amount of contact hours and small classes. Most units only had a final exam to test you on so there isn't that much work through the semester. There is generally a 2 hour lecture and 2 hour tute.

Cuisine
I ate hundreds of kebabs throughout the semester and miss them every day.

Housing
Siegmunds Hof is still my second home. German unis sort out accommodation for you and I could not recommend Siegmunds higher. When you are accepted you can put in a simple application for accommodation.

Money Matters
I took over $10k and this was far more than was required. I spent around $5000 over the semester. Accommodation and food are cheap.

Getting Around
The S Bahn is fantastic and makes me hate Sydney transport.

Travels
There are plenty of places to go out of Berlin. The majority of Europe can be accessed for less than 50 euros with Ryanair flights.

Top Tips
Berlin is incredible and I'd highly recommend it. If you go, make sure you stay at Siegmunds Hof, you will meet some ripper people.
