Köln International School of Design (KISD) offers integrative, interdisciplinary, project-oriented and student-centered learning and research in design. It is an institute of the Cologne University of Applied Sciences, achieves high international rankings, and is distinctly international in its outlook.

KISD offers unique project-based learning and research, aiming to enable students to explore their own creativity while gaining practical and theoretical design knowledge that will qualify them for their future careers. KISD undertakes numerous industry projects, for example with Siemens, Provinzial Insurance and SwissCom Mobile.

Unique characteristics
Courses are taught across 12 areas of expertise, including engineering, material, economics, semiotics, sociology, psychology, culture, information, media and communication. Teaching is interdisciplinary and internationally focused. Forty per cent of the students are international and KISD cooperates with more than 45 schools of design throughout Europe and beyond.

Rich with history and architecture, Cologne is full of art museums and historical attractions, including the famous cathedral. Here you can sample great beer and chocolate, party in the old town and enjoy sports and cultural events.
