About
The University of Ottawa is a bilingual public research university located in the Canadian capital. Its philosophy is to study at the crossroads of culture, languages and ideas.

Highlights
The University is at the forefront of environmental innovation both in theory and practice. In 2010 it stopped selling bottled water and invoked a plastic bottle ban, encouraging students to carry reusable containers that can be topped up at campus water fountains. The new social science building is the latest green initiative with the entire structure proclaimed “eco-friendly.”

Unique Characteristics
The University of Ottawa offers a wide variety of academic programs administered by 10 faculties. Located on a large campus it comprises 30 main buildings, 806 research laboratories 301 teaching laboratories and 257 class and seminar rooms. It also has 10 student residences, although most students tend to live off campus.

Location
Superlatively described as resembling “an appealing dating profile” by one guidebook, Ottawa is dynamic, gregarious with a great conglomeration of cuisine and drinking establishments catering to most budgets. The University is one of few in the world that you can skate to in the frigid winter months.
