About
Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) is a preeminent college of art and design, founded and nurtured by women. It’s still pushing the boundaries, trying to bring art and design onto the national agenda along with science and technology.

Highlights
RISD is adjacent to Brown University on College Hill and students have access to many of Brown’s facilities and cultural offerings. RISD has a museum containing more than 85,000 works of art, the Edna Lawrence Nature Lab, with more than 80,000 live specimens and natural history objects, an impressive library and a Writing Centre which provides support for students to create written messages.

Unique characteristics
RISD has a focus on hands-on learning, experimentation and immersive, studio-based education. Living and studying on campus will introduce you to a community of like-minded critical thinkers and creative minds.

Location
Rhode Island is the smallest US state and boasts white sandy beaches, excellent ocean swimming, cliffs and quaint seaside towns. RISD’s campus is located in the historic downtown area of Providence, Rhode Island’s creative capital and an arts and culture mecca. The town has the largest number of working artists in the United States as well as a range of galleries, theatres and museums.
