About
Goethe Universität Frankfurt is a leading international research university with an international focus. It’s located in the cosmopolitan city of Frankfurt, Europe’s largest financial and trading centre which has been voted in the top 10 most liveable cities in the world.

Highlights
Founded as a unique ‘citizens’ university’, Goethe Universität Frankfurt was once considered left leaning or liberal and is best known as being the birthplace of the Frankfurt School which produced some of Europe’s leading twentieth century thinkers. The University still has a strong reputation in the social sciences, but also has research excellence in the natural sciences, law, history, languages, humanities, the arts, and economics. The University offers many courses in English.

Unique characteristics
Among its thriving student community are more than 7,000 international students from 130 different countries. They is a wide variety of student organisations and events to keep life lively and you’ll be living in an international city where almost a third of residents are non-German.

Location
Frankfurt is a lively, cosmopolitan city that offers the benefits of a modern metropolis along with green parks, easy bike access and plenty of outdoor markets, cafes, restaurants and beer gardens - specialties include locally grown wine, apfelwein (apple cider) and grüne soße (a fresh, green herb sauce most often served with eggs and potatoes). You can visit numerous museums, go to packed music venues, and nature is within easy access. Frankfurt is a finance and business capital and is famous for hosting major trade shows including the Frankfurt book fair.
