University of Reading
Location: Reading
Year established: 1892
Student population:  17,000 (6,400 international students)
Check out 10 reasons to study abroad at Reading! Based on three campuses in and around the city of Reading, the University has a long tradition of research, education and training at local, national and international level.
The Henley Business School at Reading is particularly strong, and there are also a range of units available in areas such as Political Science & International Relations, Agriculture & Food Science, Law, Economics, Environmental Science, Policy & Development and Law.
Unique Characteristics
Reading can be your base to explore as well as learn. High-speed rail links with London make it quick, easy and affordable for students to take advantage of all that London has to offer, and there are regular rail services to major cities around the UK. London Heathrow and London Gatwick Airports are easily accessible as well. Many of the UK's major tourist destinations (Oxford, 'Downton Abbey', Windsor Castle, Hampton Court and London) are all within easy reach. The picturesque and safe main campus is set in 130 hectares of beautiful parkland, so you'll find plenty of places to relax during the day. Buildings are a mixture of the modern and traditional. In 2014, the site was voted number six out of almost 1,500 green spaces eligible to be included in the 2014 Green Flag People's Choice Award. Whiteknights is the only university campus to appear in the top 10.
Whether you are a sports fan, love a good comedy club or just want to dance the night away with your mates, Reading will have something to offer you. The town is large enough to boast a range of shops, bars, restaurants and arts and sport venues, but small enough to feel welcoming. It also has fantastic transport links, and you can reach London within half an hour by train. The town has a proud history of welcoming people from across the globe, and international students often comment on the warm atmosphere and multicultural vibe.
